Acupuncture
Classical five element acupuncture is a system of medicine originating from China and is used widely in the world today as an alternative therapy. It’s main tools are very fine needles that are inserted into acupuncture points and moxibustion, a smouldering herb that is used to warm the acupuncture points.
When we talk about disease in classical acupuncture we mean any form of ‘dis-ease’ – whether this is manifesting in the body, mind or spirit of the person. This system offers a holistic approach, not only to achieving the absence of symptoms, but one that focuses on improving all aspects of well being: physical, mental and emotional. Although patients may initially come to acupuncture for help with a specific problem, they will usually find it achieving far more than they initially expected.

Apothecary
During the first lockdown when I was unable to see my regular patients I decided to complement my practice with telemedicine and an apothecary, providing people with tools and remedies for home based treatment. This means that I can now treat people from further afield as they may not need to visit me as much – sometimes just the once – and I am excited about the opportunity this gives me to provide treatment to people who are too constrained by time or finances to attend for a complete course of acupuncture. Lifestyle
My background in public health sparked a keen interest in lifestyle medicine – in particular nutrition - and I am able to provide advice on eating and supplementation to support your system and the treatment that you are having. I prefer not to use the word diet as it focuses specifically on what we eat rather than how we approach eating and, in my experience, tends to feed into negative emotional patterns without resolving them. You don’t need to be suffering digestive upsets to benefit from better eating practices as they can complement treatment for all sorts of other issues.
In addition to tailored nutritional advice I can also signpost you to appropriate exercises and well-being practices to aid your journey to health. This will always be done in the context of your diagnosis and with reference to your individual needs and preferences.
